Glossary of Key Terms
Endorphins:
Endorphins work as natural pain
relievers. The term “endorphin rush” is feelings of
exhilaration brought on by pain, danger, or other
forms of stress. They produce pain relief and a
sense of wellbeing. Endorphins have also been shown
to be released in deep relaxation.
Muscle Relaxation: Muscle relaxation can be
useful for the promotion of rest, recovery, and
recuperation. The removal of stress-related
reactions helps to release endorphins and supports
wellbeing.
Digestive System: The digestive system is
made up of the digestive tract, which is hollow
organs joined in a long, twisting tube from the
mouth to the anus and organs that help the body
break down and absorb food. Digestion is the process
by which food and drink are broken down into their
smallest parts so the body can use them to build and
nourish cells and to provide energy.
Hormones:
Hormones are the body's chemical messengers. They
travel in the bloodstream to tissues or organs. They
affect many different processes, which are for
example growth and development.
Immune System:
An immune system is a system of cells
and organs and processes within an organism that
protects against disease by recognizing and killing
pathogens and tumor cells. It detects viruses,
bacteria, and body foreign agent as well as cancer
cells. It helps to keep the body healthy.
